Advisor Connections Newsletter™
July 28, 2015
This edition of the Advisor Connections Newsletter focuses on some of the frequently asked questions we encounter, both from other professionals and also from clients.
The first article addresses naming a living trust as the beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan, and highlights under what circumstances this strategy is appropriate as well as the tax and non-tax reasons that should be considered.
The next item relates to the recent Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges, which established a same-gender right to marry. Despite the Supreme Court’s decision, there remain a number of unaddressed issues pertaining to legal and financial planning.
As part of our ongoing commitment to community education, we will be holding an educational workshop regarding the ramifications of Obergefell, as well as other issues in the area of estate planning for gay and lesbian couples. Both current clients, prospective clients, and advisors are welcome to attend. Additionally, if you are interested in offering a “private label” version of this workshop to your clients, we invite you to reach out to us.
We hope you find this Newsletter to be insightful! As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or comments you may have.
